a transactional website for an obnl
It was a childhood friend who connected Nathalie – the director of the NPO Le Regroupement des aidantes et aidants naturels de Montréal – and me.
The brief: RAANM already had a website on Drupal for a few years, but was unsatisfied for several reasons. The RAANM needed a transactional website to allow its users to become members. But above all, the RAANM wanted a website where it was possible to make changes easily, without dumbing down the quality. Hello, WordPress and Genesis!
The important thing was to make the interface of the WordPress site easy to use, since the RAANM wanted to be autonomous in its content. Among the work done, I first transferred the content from Drupal to WordPress by hand and then added the new content, created a Sucuri account for the website’s security, researched and integrated a calendar that met the RAANM’s criteria (super extra giga important that it look good and be easy to use), integrated several contact forms, researched and integrated a testimonial extension, coded the exact place to add a carousel, I also hand-coded an additional navigation bar where to add links to the NPO’s social networks and, in addition to other small details, I finally created a “become a member” section with a well elaborated form and WooCommerce transactions for annual subscriptions.
Not to mention the design, which is the soul of the RAANM’s website: efficient, smooth, easy to navigate.
Also, as always, I created custom videos so that the entire OBNL team is self-sufficient in managing their website themselves.
It has been a great pleasure to work with Nathalie and the RAANM team. I’m actually sad it ended.
Web design and development coupled with fun, I am super proud of the final result.
Today, Nathalie and the RAANM team manage their own custom WordPress website, making any changes they want, and I am the one who hosts it!
